Nissan S-Hybrid - 1st Hybrid MPV Sold In Malaysia
Tan Chong motors launched the new Serena S-Hybrid in Malaysia recently and it's the first Hybrid-MPV to be sold in Malaysia. The Serena S-Hybrid is imported as CBU from Japan and currently hybrid cars are given certain tax exemptions until end year of 2013.
The Serena S-Hybrid is a mid-sized MPV unlike the Toyota Alphard or Estima but a good size for medium sized family. Its powered by a MR20DD 2.0 ltr engine with direct injection twin-CVTC unit paired to Nissan's latest Xtronic CVT gearbox with Adaptive Shift Control.
When the car is idle, the idling system shuts don the engine and restarts in split second once the brake is released. The MPV is an eight seater with 2-3-4 formation and 14 types of seat configurations to suit your lifestyle.
Getting in and out of the MPV is also a breeze with its powered one-touch sliding doors on both side. The rearmost seats can be folded to maximise the space for extra cargo. As advertised, it can carry up to 4 mountain bikes. Storage spaces are also aplenty with storage boxes under the seats and an under floor compartment that is able to hold a stroller.
Safety wise, it comes with all the standard safety features such as dual airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, VDC and auto headlamps.
So how much would this wonderful MPV costs? Its retailing from RM149, 500 on the road with insurance. It's a good car for a medium size family where we can travel comfortably in the large cabin space.
